My experience going abroad with ASA was incredible, to say the least. I had e'er wanted to go abroad since my sister did back in 2012 when she studied in Sevilla, Kingdom of spain. If you want a program that volition answer your calls and emails right abroad, requite yous amazing staff that will care about yous when you get away and want to have an unbelieve experience, and so choose ASA. They helped me every stride of the way when applying to their Barcelona program. They answered every question I had and guided me on what steps to take next on getting my visa which I got through them. I'm from Connecticut and then getting a Visa to go abroad was going to be a hard task since I would have had to travel to New York Metropolis to recall information technology. My ASA directors Marta and Richard became family to me for the adjacent four months. They helped me with everything and annihilation from needing a doctors appointment to something in our apartment needed fixing. My favorite memory was climbing the Duomo with ASA--merely i of the many activities included in your tuition! In Apr, the start weekend of sunshine (considering the jump I was there was greeted with rain!!), ASA provided the states a ticket to climb the Duomo. To see the urban center from that height was incredible!

What would you improve about this program?

I loved representing this plan on campus, so more than opportunities for students to do this would be amazing. As for arrangement, structure, and advice with the programme, ASA is incredible!

I am so glad that I went abroad to Maynooth, Ireland but I am then glad that I went with ASA. Our site director, provided through ASA, was extremely helpful. She gave astonishing communication, knew Ireland so well, and was ever there for united states if nosotros needed anything. Simply here are some of the best parts of studying away in Maynooth

This program could exist improved by having more student interns at universities to spread the word about the incredible opportunities this provider gives students. More than outreach is necessary for something that changes your life as ASA does.

Going abroad was hands downwardly the best decision I ever fabricated! I studied abroad in Dublin, Republic of ireland at Griffith College from January 2018-March 2018. The experiences I had throughout those four months are unforgettable and will admittedly last a life time. I'm then thankful for ASA in helping me throughout the whole awarding process. It was easy and fool proof. The other best part of ASA were the excursions included in our tuition. Nosotros were able to not just experience Dublin as a whole, but too other parts of Ireland. We were so lucky to have our astonishing on-site managing director, Olwyn, in that location to help and guide us through information technology all. Dublin is the most charming city and Republic of ireland is quite the place to call home for a few months. No language barrier, incredible culture and the friendliest people you volition ever run into. Not a day goes by where I don't reverberate on my experience and trust me when I say you will admittedly never regret it!

Why did you choose this programme?

I was encouraged by the Academy of South Carolina's study abroad function and the School of Journalism and Mass Communications to choose ASA and written report at Griffith College in Dublin, Ireland.

A benefit of this program and college was the power to take my major-related courses abroad, rather than saving general education courses. Some other deciding gene to choose ASA was the included excursions.

What did your program provider assist you with, and what did yous have to organize on your own?

Bookish Studies Abroad provided airport option-upward, an on-site director, medical insurance, visa advising, pre-difference handbooks and orientations, pre-approved academic credits and financial aid aid. The staff at ASA was there every step of the process and were quick to respond to questions at all hours of the day! You lot do take to organize your own flying data, however.

Although I met with my USC advisor and got courses approved, students practice not register or schedule classes until arrival at Griffith College, so those are subject to alter. Griffith Higher provided residence-hall living arrangements; meals were non provided, but a shared kitchen is.

Back at my home university, the University of South Carolina, the study abroad role provided a Pre-Difference orientation of their ain to ensure that we as students were prepared and had all necessary documents filed.

What is one piece of advice you lot'd requite to someone going on your programme?

Y'all think you can, but you cannot exercise everything. I figured iv months in a different country would exist enough time to try every restaurant, every cafe, every night-life scene, EVERYTHING - I was wrong. I, ironically, found comfort in being a "regular" at places; I started to capeesh the familiarity compared to the need for new.

What does an average day/calendar week look like as a participant of this program?

Classes offered at Griffith College were typically 1.5 hours - iii hours and often held i-ii times a week, Mon through Fri. Most classes had word periods that were mandatory and reduced the size of the course to further think or ask questions about the lesson lectured on.

When we were non in class, we were visiting tourist attractions, trying new restaurants, grocery shopping or running errands for upcoming trips.

Every other weekend or and then we would take an excursion, led by our on-site director, to another metropolis (Howth, Wicklow, Galway, Cork, etc.) in Ireland. Some were personally directed past our on-site director (a local from Dublin!) while others were organized tours or buses, paid by our initial program fee.

Going into your feel abroad, what was your biggest fearfulness, and how did you lot overcome information technology? How did your views on the issue change?

Compared to other study abroad destinations, I did not experience a culture shock and did not face the obstacle of a linguistic communication barrier. I was not fearful of the strange land I would call domicile, simply rather, who I would be sharing and spending time with in the plan. I was concerned virtually forming friendships, considering I had traveled solo, not knowing anyone in the program prior.

ASA already organized and established times/events/meals that gave students the opportunity to socialize and get to know each other first the first day. I remember the biggest realization for me was that students that choose to study away tend to take similar personalities, motivations and goals - whether it be personal or professional person. I had to remind myself that it wasn't but me who was nervous or clueless; we were all experiencing the same emotions and feelings. I am forever thankful for the other students in my spring 2018 program; the hall community immediately bonded united states of america from celebrating birthdays to cooking meals together to sharing clothes -- to traveling the globe!

What's your advice to other abroad students?

1. Meet people from the land! While I attended Griffith College, I met a few other international students here or at that place simply did not form whatsoever shut bonds or relationships with Irish students. Looking back, that is something I feel like I perhaps missed out on.
2. Even though you lot FINALLY learned the public transportation organisation, when y'all can - walk! Some of my favorite cafes or events around the metropolis were ones we stumbled upon by hazard. And NEVER stop taking photos - you're allowed to notwithstanding be a tourist!
